The Mission of the Stern Center

Located in Los Angeles, the MJTI Stern Center is the home of a learning community committed to teaching a vision of Jewish life renewed in Yeshua through regular Beit Midrash sessions, seminars, workshops and courses.

The Stern Center's mission is to serve the Messianic Jewish community, and also the wider Jewish community and the Christian world.  We serve the Messianic Jewish community with foundational teaching about Messianic Jewish life.  We serve the wider Jewish community by sharing the values and relevance of Messianic Judaism.  We serve the Christian world by communicating the importance of the Jewish wing of the body of Yeshua believers.  We seek to promote mutual dialogue and awareness among these groups.

The Formation of the Stern Center

The David Harold Stern Center for Messianic Jewish Learning and Life was formed in 2007 as a branch of the Messianic Jewish Theological Institute (MJTI).

The MJTI David Harold Stern Center is named after Dr. David H. Stern, one of Messianic Judaism’s most respected authors and thinkers. Dr. Stern was born and raised in Los Angeles, and before making aliyah (moving to Israel) in 1979, taught at UCLA and Fuller Theological Seminary. He is the author of a number of books and articles, including the Complete Jewish Bible, the Jewish New Testament Commentary, Restoring the Jewishness of the Gospel, and Messianic Judaism. He is married to Martha, has two grown children, and resides in Jerusalem.

The David Harold Stern Center strives to carry on Dr. Stern’s legacy by advancing a Messianic Jewish understanding of Scripture, theology, and Jewish life in the Los Angeles area.  The Stern Center serves to propel Dr. Stern’s vision of Messianic Judaism into the future by living out the concept of L’dor v’dor – by passing on our Messianic Jewish heritage from one generation to another.
